Well this feels different

This morning, I finished the last piece of work in front of me that had a deadline. From 10 AM on, I have been unemployed. This is the first time since 1998 that I have not had at least one contract job still waiting on my desk to be done. I'm not worried. I have money coming in and there will be other work. It's just a strange feeling. It's also an opportunity. I can use the time to focus on doing more of my own creative work.

  1. Wow G...sorry to hear that. Glad there will be other work. But, I am sure it is a lil unnerving to say the least.

  2. Thanks, Darsden. It always is a little unnerving, but it's part of the job. I've just been spoiled by having those long-term, renewable contracts that recently came to an end. But I've never been without work for long.

  3. Hope this lull comes as just a bit of a breather and not a stress.

  4. Hey, Marty. As busy as I've been over the past three months, I can use the breather. That's for sure.

  6. Maybe some new poetry? Thanks for your kind encouragement on mine, by the way.

  7. Hi, Braja. I actually got out an unfinished novel and looked at it today. (Composers have it made--they can publish unfinished symphonies. No one wants to read an unfinished novel.) But ironically, I'm most productive creatively when I have the least time because of contract work.

Hi, Willow. I do plan to spend more time on new poetry. And no thanks needed, by the way. That was a great poem.

  10. Aloha, Cloudia. Ah, yes. Freedom. Too often, too short. But not to be wasted.

Thanks, Souporsoprano. It's actually an opera.

  11. I'm sorry to hear about the work, but I'm glad you are getting a bit of a break. I bet you won't have a lull for long.

  12. Is this a congratulatory or an apologetic moment? I am not certain if I awoke to no desk to turn to, I'd be sad....
